It reminded me of my wanderings in the Sequoia National Forest 2 weekends ago. These first ones were taken on the car trip home. They resembled "True Grit's" barren but picturesque landscapes.

The trek to Tokopah Falls in the Sequoia National Forests had a different flavor. The black bears (yes, we saw bear cubs and more!) and we enjoyed verdant shade and cool creeks from the melting snow.

That was a photo-heavy. I just had to share my awe. Soon, the NYC streets will inspire a different kind of awe! I am so looking forward to seeing family, friends, and doing my favorite things in my old habitat.
Let me know how your summers are going. I really love getting to know you all!

'Awe' is definitely the right word for the feeling inspired by these photos. In fact, the 3rd one transported me back to being aged three and a half on a family trip to CAlifornia when we invited to camp in the middle of a forest. I had the sudden recollection (looking at your photo) of standing looking up into the trees and then being told that I must always be sure to stay with the grown ups and not wander off anywhere by myself as there were predatory animals in the woods! (I wonder what they would have been?)
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing <3

Thank you, everyone.
ReplyDelete@Roz - Your youth absolutely delights me. I can't believe you have memories as a 3-yr old. And we in the blog world are thankful that no predators found you a tasty morsel.
@Songbird - I haven't seen Winter's Bone yet, but it sounds like the kind of spunky young heroine I like! It's a lot more intense than True Grit, which has the Coen sense of humor and wonder in it.
These pictures are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love nature so much.
