ARABESQUE

Some of you are familiar with my "Ballet Series".  For those who are new to our circle, I've been posting photos I took backstage from our show rehearsals as well as our photo shoot about 2 months ago.  (You may spot a few random posts at the bottom in the "You may also like: " section.)

This one is of another beautiful, Japanese dance friend.  She is in Arabesque here, a pose that shows off a dancer's lines.  She is quite petite and her style is feminine and very classical.  She is wonderful to watch!

I have family in town this week followed by a camping trip to Montecito at Sequoia National Park (not too far from Yosemite) this coming weekend.  So postings and internet access may be even rarer than before ... but I am still reading all your comments and trying to visit all your lovely blogs!

I hope you are all enjoying Summer Break!

  3. Thanks, Songbird and Lee! Perhaps "series" was too strong a word -- I've only posted a handful of photos so far :-). I'm so glad you enjoy them! xoxo

  4. Ah, another extraordinary image of one of your ballet friends. Wow, what grace. I'd love to see her dance! And your pirate ship post below - it's brilliantly whimsical. Thank you for reproducing that Emily Dickinson poem. Yes, yes and yes to the power of books to transport. Just spotted that the kite festival was in Santa Cruz - I visited there with my family when I was age 3, so I don't have too many memories. But I DO remember the size of the giant redwood trees that surrounded the house where we stayed and the sound of the insects at night. Hope you have a great camping trip.

  7. @Nyanzi -- your compliment just made my day :D !!! Thank you very much.
@Roz - I don't think I can be as organized as you packing a lovely green outfit for camping! It'll be more like hiking grubs for me and lots of lens cleaners ;-) But I am so looking forward to giant redwoods. And I am amazed at how much you remember from when you were 3 yrs old!
